Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (Definition)

The Children's Online Privacy Protection Act, (effective April 21, 2000) applies to the collection of information by US websites on children under the age of 13.

Rules cover what a web site operator must include in a privacy policy, when the consent of a parent must be sought, and how the privacy of a child must be protected.
