Chatham House Rule (Definition)The Royal Institute of International Affairs is based at Chatham House in London and is often known by that name. The Chatham House Rule is invoked at meetings to encourage free disucssions. It states that:When a meeting, or part therof, is held uner the Chatham House Rule, participants are free to use the information received, but neither the identity nor the affiliation of the speaker(s), nor that of any other participant, may be revealed. Many security conferences and organizations use the Chatham House Rule for their meetings. More information can be found at Chatham House.
